Việt Nam's biggest tourism trade event just wrapped in Đà Nẵng, and the numbers are striking. The Đà Nẵng International Tourism Festival, running under the banner 'Connecting Partners, Creating a Future', logged over 7,000 B2B matching meetings between 300 tourism sellers and 550 buyers from home and abroad — the largest gathering of tourism supply services the country has seen. Around 1,500 participants took part in total.
The city's Tourism Association used the event to sign a batch of memoranda of understanding with international and domestic partners, covering destination promotion, product exchanges and familiarisation (FAM) trips. Buyers came from Korea, Japan, China, Russia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Singapore — a solid snapshot of where Đà Nẵng's inbound market is heading.
So what does a trade festival mean for actual travellers? Quite a lot, if the city's trajectory holds. Đà Nẵng has been quietly building itself into a hub for high-end MICE events, weddings and golf competitions, and it backs that up with a busy calendar: the Đà Nẵng Golf Tourism Festival, the International Marathon, an Iron Man Triathlon, the Asian Film Festival, the International Fireworks Festival, the Pickleball World Cup, plus annual Việt Nam–Japan and Việt Nam–Korea cultural events, most running since 2012. The city's Tourism Promotion Centre says more than 100 delegations and 28,000 participants attended MICE events there in the first half of 2026.
Visitor figures back the buzz up. Đà Nẵng hosted 15.8 million tourists in the first nine months of this year, including 7.7 million foreigners — growth of 28 percent. Officials also pitched the city as a launchpad for central Việt Nam's UNESCO-listed heavyweights: Hội An ancient town, the Huế Monuments Complex, Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng and Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary are all within reach.
For holidaymakers, the takeaway is simple: Đà Nẵng is no longer just a stopover between Huế and Hội An. It's a beach city with growing flight connections, a hotel and resort scene polished by business travel, and an events calendar that gives you a reason to time your trip — the fireworks festival in particular draws huge crowds. If you like the idea of city beaches, golf, good food and easy day trips to heritage sites, this is the Vietnamese city watching closest.
