Singapore travellers just got a new wallet option ahead of the holiday season. DBS has launched the TravelLah! Debit Card, a travel-focused card available to anyone aged 16 and up, applied for entirely through the DBS PayLah! app (version 7.2.0 or later) with no branch visit or paperwork involved.
The headline perks are two zeroes: 0% FX fees on overseas spending and 0 overseas ATM withdrawal fees. Purchases are converted at Visa's wholesale exchange rates with no markup from the bank, and everything is settled in Singapore dollars, so there's no pre-converting money or managing multiple currency balances. The card works in over 150 currencies, covering trips from Europe to Bali to ski holidays in Japan.
On the cash side, DBS charges nothing for overseas ATM withdrawals, with no cap on how many you make and a daily spending limit that defaults to $2,000 but can be raised to $5,000 in the digibank app. Withdrawals work at ATMs bearing the Visa PLUS logo. One caveat worth noting: while DBS waives its own fees, some local ATM operators abroad may still charge their own fee, usually shown on-screen before you confirm.
The card also comes with merchant deals in three popular destinations for Singaporeans. In Japan, you get up to 7% off selected categories at BicCamera (stacked on Visa's global 5% offer) plus savings at Mitsui Outlet Park. In South Korea, there are discounts at Innisfree Jeju House, the Osulloc Tea Museum and Café Knotted. In Malaysia, perks include a free Grab Travel Pass, 15% off at Haidilao and Starbucks, and RM30 off at Din Tai Fung with a minimum spend. Back home, the card knocks money off TADA and Gojek rides and offers rebates on AIRSIM data plans.
Other inclusions: no annual fee, basic travel insurance underwritten by Chubb (redeemable monthly until 31 August 2027, for those 18+), and for Multiplier account holders aged 29 and below, card spending earns 1.50% p.a. interest on the first $50,000 with no minimum spend requirement.
The whole thing runs on the PayLah! app, with a separate TravelLah! wallet kept apart from your main balance, topped up from PayLah! or a linked DBS/POSB account. Apple users can add the card to Apple Wallet and use it immediately upon approval; the physical card arrives in three to five working days, and it lights up when tapped. Card controls like locking, blocking or replacing it are handled in-app too.
For travellers, this matters most if you're under 18-plus and haven't yet qualified for a credit card, or if you're a parent wanting to hand your teenager controlled spending power abroad. It also suits anyone tired of hunting for money changers or paying airport exchange rates — just withdraw small amounts of local cash as you go. As always, compare the effective rate with multi-currency competitors before committing, but the zero-fee structure and no-cap ATM access make it a solid pick for the year-end travel rush.
