The Michelin Guide has renewed its Two-Key rating for Eden Roc Cap Cana, the 68-room resort in the Dominican Republic's Cap Cana enclave, keeping it among a small handful of hotels in the region with the distinction.
What makes Eden Roc unusual isn't just the award — it's the layout. The resort's original accommodation is a collection of freestanding suites set back from the beach in gardens threaded with winding paths. The Luxury Pool Junior Suites start at 830 square feet and come with vaulted ceilings, private courtyards, covered gazebos and, the headline feature, your own swimming pool. Add an outdoor rain shower, a private spa area, butler service and a personal golf cart for zipping around the property, and it starts to feel more like a Caribbean villa than a hotel room.
That separation from the sand is the point, and it's a genuine choice rather than a compromise. The idea: wake up, swim laps in your own pool, have breakfast delivered to the suite, then hop in the golf cart down to the beach club when you fancy the sea. Larger one-bedroom and family suites follow the same formula, and two-bedroom villas add living rooms, kitchenettes and private pools.
If you'd rather sleep next to the water, Eden Roc has a newer beachfront wing. Deluxe Beachfront Rooms run 590 square feet with ocean-view terraces, while one-bedroom suites stretch to 1,100 square feet with a living room, dining space and kitchen. The hotel is the Dominican Republic's only Relais & Châteaux property, and the dining backs that up — Mediterraneo for Mediterranean cooking, beachfront La Palapa, and BLUE Grill + Bar. The beach club itself has an infinity pool and shaded daybeds on a calm stretch of coast.
Staying here also unlocks the wider Cap Cana development: the Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Espada golf course, a marina, and Scape Park, an adventure attraction with cenotes and zip lines.
