September is shaping up as a strong month for hotel lovers, with new doors swinging open everywhere from a Greek island to a Spanish rooftop. Here's what's just landed and why it matters for your next trip.
Greece gets a dreamy new addition with Nírema Hotel & Spa Samos, joining the MGallery Collection. The name comes from the Samian word for 'dream', and the setting backs it up: 72 rooms looking across Vathy Bay towards the Ampelos mountains, eight suites with private pools, and a guests-only beachfront on the Aegean. Samos remains one of the quieter big-name Greek islands, all vineyards and pine, so a design-led base here is genuinely good news.
Wellness travellers have two new options. On Estonia's remote island of Hiiumaa, Eha is a Baltic Sea retreat built around a five-season calendar — yes, five. Between winter and spring sits 'Springrise', a transition season the retreat treats as its own programme for recalibration. Closer to a city break, CORI Hornbæk Hotel brings 77 rooms and suites plus five townhouse apartments to the Danish seaside town of Hornbæk, about 40 minutes from Copenhagen. Designed by Afroditi Krassa (the studio behind Rosewood and Harrods interiors) and part of Leading Hotels of the World, it sits right on a white-sand beach long favoured by Copenhagen's creative set.
In Mexico, Viceroy Los Cabos has completed a major transformation that keeps its signature white architecture and reflecting pools while refreshing dining and public spaces at the edge of the Sea of Cortez. In New York's North Fork, Oyster Estate opens as a 34-key boutique hotel in Greenport Village, a short drive from the region's vineyards. The design leans hard into its setting: hay plaster ceilings echoing the salt marshes, locally sourced ceramics, and flowers from around Greenport pressed into the lobby tiles.
Two Spanish cities also gain new places to sleep. Nobu Hotel Madrid is the brand's first in the capital — 50 rooms in the Las Cortes district between Plaza de Cibeles and Puerta del Sol, a rooftop with city views, and a cocktail bar in the building's former bank vault, complete with original safety deposit boxes and a vinyl DJ system. And Murcia finally has a five-star hotel: Palacio San Juan, a Royal Hideaway property restored from the historic Palacio de Floridablanca by Murcian architect Jesús Zafra.
Why care? September openings are a smart traveller's sweet spot — book now and you'll often get introductory rates, pristine rooms and the kudos of being early. These eight also cluster usefully: Samos and Hornbæk suit late-summer European escapes, Hiiumaa is one for autumn and winter retreat seekers, while Madrid, Murcia, Greenport and Cabo cover city, wine-country and beach breaks alike.
