Dubai doesn't do understated New Year's Eves, and Atlantis, The Palm has just raised the bar for 2026: Katy Perry will headline the resort's gala dinner on Palm Jumeirah, performing live before the midnight fireworks take over the skyline.
The pop superstar brings serious credentials to the outdoor stage. Since her 2008 debut album One of the Boys, she's racked up more than 115 billion streams and 143 million track sales, and she remains the only artist in RIAA history with three Diamond singles — Firework, Dark Horse and Roar. All three are expected in the setlist, alongside other fan favourites like Last Friday Night. There's a certain poetry to hearing Firework moments before actual fireworks erupt over the Palm.
The evening is built as a full-scale production rather than a concert with dinner attached. Doors open at 6pm with champagne, canapés and roaming entertainment, before guests are seated on a custom-built outdoor deck looking out over Palm Jumeirah. Tickets don't come cheap. Premium seating starts at Dhs8,500 per person for guests aged 14 and up, with Rouge Circle from Dhs10,500 and Golden Circle from Dhs14,500. For those going all-in, VIP Sky Suites start at Dhs250,000 for up to ten guests — the sort of box that suits a milestone birthday or a group splitting a once-a-decade splurge. Children aged 4 to 13 pay from Dhs6,500, and under-threes go free, so it's not strictly an adults-only affair, though the pricing and 14-plus adult tier signal a grown-up crowd.
For travellers, this is one of those dates worth planning a whole trip around. Book flights and accommodation early — Dubai hotel rates spike sharply over New Year's Eve, and Palm Jumeirah rooms with a view of the fireworks sell out months ahead. If the gala is beyond budget, the Palm still delivers plenty of atmosphere for free: the beaches and bridges around Palm Jumeirah fill with spectators for the midnight display, and Downtown Dubai's Burj Khalifa show offers another vantage point the same night.
Whether you're buying a Golden Circle ticket or watching the sky light up from the sand, Dubai on December 31 is about as big as New Year's Eve gets.
