Holland America Line is bringing a New York dessert icon to the high seas. During the 2026-27 Caribbean season, every Caribbean-based ship in the fleet will host a Banana Pudding Bar serving Magnolia Bakery's famous signature dessert — the first time the bakery's sweets have been available anywhere at sea.
The bar will pop up once per cruise in the Lido Market, the ships' casual buffet area. If you know Magnolia, you know the recipe: layers of banana, vanilla wafers, vanilla pudding, sweetened condensed milk and whipped cream. Holland America's chefs actually trained with Magnolia's team in New York to nail the preparation, presentation and texture of the Southern classic.
There's a milestone behind the partnership. It celebrates 30 years of RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, the line's private island in the Bahamas and a perennial Readers' Choice favourite for best private island. The island was recently rebranded after a major renovation that added new venues and a bigger beachfront, so the pudding bar doubles as a birthday toast to one of Holland America's most loved destinations.
The dessert is part of a wider Caribbean push on board. Menus across the season feature rum barbecue chicken wings, Jamaican braised oxtail, tomato-braised pork ossobuco and pineapple upside-down cake, plus themed events including a Caribbean seafood boil in the Lido Market, a Caribbean brunch in the main Dining Room, Caribbean teatime, and a poolside Caribbean dinner around the Lido. Rum drinkers get their own perk: a Rum Ambassador programme, exclusive to Caribbean ships, with more than 35 rums to sample.
