MSC Cruises has taken the ultra-family suite idea up a notch with the Grand Hamptons Villa, a new top-tier accommodation that will exist on exactly one ship: the MSC World Atlantic. Bookings are open now, and there's only one villa per sailing, so it's a genuine 'if you know, you know' cabin category.
The numbers explain the pitch. The villa sleeps up to eight guests across more than 230 square metres of indoor and outdoor space — roughly the footprint of a small apartment at sea. It's built for multigenerational groups or two families travelling together, with a dedicated kids' suite alongside the primary suite, which has its own private terrace.
The layout leans hard into keeping everyone entertained. There's a double-height living area with panoramic ocean views, a private bar and an ocean-view swinging chair, plus a separate Entertainment Loft housing a private cinema lounge for family movie nights, a digital gaming table and a LEGO wall. Step outside and you get an oceanfront terrace with a whirlpool bath, lounge seating and deck games. The design comes from Storyland Studios, styled after the breezy, understated look of the Hamptons.
Crucially, the villa also carries the keys to MSC's Yacht Club — the line's ship-within-a-ship premium zone. That means 24-hour butler and concierge service, access to exclusive Yacht Club areas, a dedicated cleaning team, the Premium Extra drinks package, unlimited specialty dining, Wi-Fi and a Fun Pass bundled in. So while the villa itself is the headline, the real value for many buyers will be the full Yacht Club experience wrapped around it.
Where will you actually sail? The World Atlantic runs alternating seven-night and 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries out of Port Canaveral in Florida, with calls that include Ocean Cay, MSC's private marine reserve island in the Bahamas. That makes it an easy fly-and-cruise option for UK travellers via Miami or Orlando.
Who is this for? Clearly not the average couple — it's aimed squarely at big families, grandparents-plus-grandkids trips, or friends splitting a big booking. Divided eight ways, the per-person cost of a suite this size with butler service can start looking more reasonable than the sticker price suggests, especially against booking multiple connecting cabins without the shared living space. If you've got a milestone birthday or a big family reunion in the planning, a one-of-a-kind cabin on a Caribbean itinerary is a genuinely memorable way to do it.
The broader signal matters too: MSC's CEO Gianni Onorato framed the villa as a response to growing demand for family and multigenerational travel, an area the family-owned line keeps pushing. Expect other cruise lines to keep raising the bar on super-suite concepts as that segment grows.
If the Grand Hamptons Villa is on your radar, book early — with a single unit per sailing on a brand-new ship, availability will be tight, particularly for school holiday departures.
