UAE residents have a new route to free hotel nights: a pair of co-branded credit cards from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank that plug directly into Marriott Bonvoy, the hotel group's loyalty programme spanning thousands of properties worldwide.
Two versions have launched. The Visa Signature card comes with 50,000 welcome points and Silver Elite status on activation. The Visa Infinite card is the more generous one for now — a limited-time offer of up to 200,000 bonus points, plus the chance to fast-track your membership from Gold Elite straight to Platinum Elite. That higher tier matters: Platinum typically unlocks lounge access, guaranteed reservation benefits, enhanced upgrades when available and priority late checkout, the kind of perks that quietly improve a trip without costing extra on the day.
Earning rates are straightforward. Qualifying domestic spending earns 1.5 Bonvoy points per dollar, while international purchases earn 3 points per dollar — so the card rewards you most when you're already abroad. The timing is deliberate, too: with the December holiday season approaching, new cardholders have a window to stack points before peak travel.
Points can go further than room nights. Bonvoy members can redeem for early check-ins, late check-outs, room upgrades and dining, transfer points to more than 40 airline partners, or spend them through Marriott Bonvoy Moments, which offers access to experiences like sports events and concerts. If you'd rather cash in on a flight upgrade than a hotel suite, the airline transfer option gives you flexibility.
One detail worth noting for UAE residents: because ADIB is an Islamic bank, the cards are structured as Sharia-compliant products rather than conventional interest-bearing credit. That makes them a genuine option for travellers who've historically avoided credit cards on religious grounds but still want loyalty perks. The cards run on Visa's payment network, so they work anywhere Visa does.
Who's this actually for? Frequent travellers in the UAE who already put hotel stays, dining, shopping and family costs on plastic — or who would like to start. If you're paying for a big annual holiday anyway, routing that spend through a Bonvoy-earning card is a low-effort way to shave hundreds of dirhams off your next trip. It's less compelling if you don't stay with Marriott or its partners, since the points are worth most within that ecosystem.
The welcome bonus is the hook. 200,000 points is enough for multiple award nights at many mid-tier Marriott properties, and combined with Platinum status you could plausibly land in an upgraded room with lounge access on your very first redemption. Just keep in mind these offers are limited-time, so the terms on the table today may not be there in six months.
