The Hoxton is finally landing in the Middle East. The Ennismore-owned brand has signed The Hoxton, Dubai Media City — its first UAE property — and it's not a quiet entrance. The project involves a multi-million-Dirham, ground-up reimagining of an existing building in one of Dubai's most creative districts, with interiors from Ennismore's in-house team AIME Studios and 230 guest rooms in the brand's usual layered, residential style.

The food line-up might be the real headline. Paris Society, the collective behind some of Dubai's most talked-about dining and nightlife, is curating the offering, and it's bringing four names. Moïse Sfez, the award-winning French restaurateur, will open Onaka, a Japanese handroll bar created specifically for this property. Bleachers adds a playful social sports bar, while two proven Hoxton favourites make the trip: Il Bambini Club, the lively trattoria already drawing crowds in London, Paris and Cape Town, and Tope, the rooftop concept serving Mexican-inspired food and cocktails in Barcelona, Portland and Brussels.

Then there's the piece that makes this Dubai opening a genuine first for the brand: a wellness club. Not a sterile hotel gym, by the sound of it — the plan includes a large gym floor, movement studios, spa treatment rooms, contrast therapy facilities and a members' lounge, all finished in Hoxton's homely aesthetic. A healthy café called Beaum rounds it out. Crucially, it's designed to serve locals as much as guests, positioning the club as a community hub rather than an amenity.

That community angle runs through the whole project. The lobby will stay true to Hoxton formula — open to neighbourhood regulars as well as hotel guests, serving comfort food and hosting pop-ups, local collaborations and cultural programming. Dubai Media City, home to media companies, production studios and digital startups, fits the brief neatly. It sits within easy reach of Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Lake Towers, so the hotel will have plenty of foot traffic from both creatives and holidaymakers.

The signing fits a broader push. Ennismore recently added The Hoxton Bengaluru and Melbourne to the pipeline, and across the Middle East, Turkey and North Africa it now runs more than 70 properties with over 23,000 rooms — including Delano Dubai, Mama Shelter Dubai, 25hours One Central and SLS The Red Sea. More regional openings are coming too: Mondrian Abu Dhabi, Rixos Dubai Islands and SLS Jeddah among them.

Why should travellers care? The Hoxton has built its name on hotels that feel like a sociable friend's apartment rather than a corporate lobby, and Dubai has no shortage of polished but impersonal luxury. If you've enjoyed the brand in London, Paris, Amsterdam or Chicago, this gives you a reason to base yourself somewhere a bit less predictable than the beach strip — with a serious rooftop and a proper wellness club thrown in. Keep it on the radar for your next Dubai trip; no opening date has been announced yet.
