After dark, the Avalon After Dark program adds live music, lounge activities and evenings ashore in port, since the ship stays docked overnight.
Where the flexibility really pays off is on shore. Avalon Choice offers an average of 22 included excursions per sailing, split into Active, Discovery and Classic categories — so one day might mean a guided walk through a European city with a certified local, the next a castle hike or a cooking class. Bikes and e-bikes are available for anyone who'd rather explore solo. Wellness is built into the fare too, with morning yoga and stretching sessions led by an Adventure Host, plus an upgraded fitness centre.
Wi-Fi, meals and drinks are all part of the price, which makes budgeting simple. The upshot for travellers: Avalon suits first-timers who want an easy intro to river cruising as well as repeat cruisers who want more say in how each day unfolds.
