Wyndham Rewards has launched a holiday promotion that bumps members up one elite tier at no cost, and some existing top-tier members can pocket 3,000 bonus points instead. Everyone has to register, and exactly what lands in your account depends on your current status, where you live, and whether you're subscribed to Wyndham's paid Insider programme.
The mechanics are simple. Blue members get Gold, Gold members get Platinum, and Platinum members get Diamond. Claim by December 30, 2026, and the boosted status runs through December 31 of that year — cutting it close on the deadline means the status could activate and expire almost simultaneously, so register early. Processing takes 24 to 48 hours. New members can join Wyndham Rewards and still claim Gold. One catch: this promotional status can't be used to match into Caesars Rewards.
What does the extra tier actually buy you? The perks are fairly modest. Gold adds a 10% points bonus, preferred room choice within your booked category, a priority service line and late checkout. Platinum brings early check-in, a 15% bonus and a car category upgrade on eligible Alamo, Enterprise and National rentals in the US and Canada. Diamond tops out at a 20% points bonus, suite upgrades when available, a snack or drink amenity, and the ability to gift Gold status to one person a year. There's no program-wide elite breakfast or lounge access, and the honest maths on the points bump is small — moving from Platinum to Diamond on a $100 stay adds points worth roughly 35 cents. Still, perks like early check-in and late checkout require asking at the desk, and any status beats none if you're collecting tiers to match elsewhere.
Current Diamond members get a different gift: two free months of the Insider subscription (if they're in the US and not already subscribed), or 3,000 bonus points for US residents already on Insider, or for any Diamond living outside the US. Those points must be claimed by December 31, 2026, and Diamonds who just upgraded through this promo don't qualify — nor do members holding a competitor status match unless they've completed 10 qualifying nights within 90 days. Worth noting that Wyndham claims 3,000 points covers a discounted night anywhere, but since the September devaluation, standard free nights run 5,000 to 45,000 points, so treat that claim with caution.
The upgrade stacks with a separate 4X points promotion: register before booking, book direct by January 15, 2027, and finish eligible paid stays by January 19. The bonus caps at 15,000 promotional points, and booking before you register doesn't count. Insiders can grab a further 5,000 points after two qualifying nights, with Premier cardholders earning 10,000 instead.
If you've got a Wyndham stay on the horizon, this is a couple of clicks for free perks and possibly free points. If not, the free tier could still be useful as a status match candidate with another hotel programme. The Insider subscription itself is harder to justify at $95 a year — the advertised '50% more points' applies only to the elite bonus, and Wyndham admits non-member rates can be cheaper.
