Skip the two-hour mountain drive: Resorts World Genting has launched a private helicopter charter that whisks travellers from Subang Airport in Selangor up to the highlands in about 25 minutes. The twin-engine aircraft seats up to eight passengers, so an entire group gets the whole machine to itself.
The route is straightforward. You take off from Subang Airport after a 10-minute safety briefing, then choose your landing spot — either Resorts World Genting or Resorts World Awana. Once you touch down, a complimentary limousine transfer carries you to any hotel or venue within the resort. The bookable window runs until 31 December 2026, and reservations need to be made at least three days ahead via the resort's hotline at +603-2718 1118.
The catch, unsurprisingly, is the price. Rates aren't published, but enquiries put a one-way charter at RM68,000 — roughly S$21,339. Split that across eight passengers and you're still looking at over S$2,660 each before you've checked in. For context, the standard route from Singapore involves a one-hour flight to Subang, then a two-hour car ride up to the resorts, so the helicopter is essentially buying back around two hours of ground travel plus a view of the green highlands and cloud cover from above.
Who is this actually for? Realistically, the ultra-affluent, small groups celebrating something big, or anyone planning a proposal with a serious budget behind it. But the story is also a signal of where Malaysia's big resort destinations are heading: Genting remains one of the region's most popular family weekend spots, and premium transport options are filling the gap between coach packages and driving yourself. Even if you'd never book a seat, it's worth knowing the option exists — especially if a delayed flight into Subang leaves you staring down a long car transfer with a packed itinerary waiting at the top.
