Avelo has pushed its Puerto Rico schedule out to spring 2027, meaning you can now lock in flights to San Juan or Aguadilla for winter getaways and spring break trips more than a year in advance. The extended booking window runs through April 20, 2027.
The more interesting part for many travellers is Aguadilla. While nearly everyone flies into San Juan, Avelo's Aguadilla service lands you on the island's northwest coast — home to surf towns like Rincón, the beaches around Isabela, and a much slower pace than the capital. If your holiday plan involves the west coast, arriving directly saves you the three-hour drive across the island from San Juan.
Two new routes feed that Aguadilla service, both starting in November. Nonstop flights from New Haven, Connecticut begin November 19, and from Lakeland, Florida on November 18 — each operating twice a week. New Haven passengers get a double win: Avelo also flies nonstop to San Juan from the same airport, so southern Connecticut travellers can pick between the capital and the west coast on the same airline.
A note on pricing: the headline $42 one-way fare in Avelo's announcement does not apply to Puerto Rico. That promotional rate covered select Lakeland–Nashville flights in March 2027 with a September 9, 2026 booking deadline. No specific fare was published for the extended Puerto Rico schedule, so expect to compare dates for the best price.
One thing worth budgeting for: Avelo is an ultra-low-cost carrier, so carry-on bags, checked luggage, seat selection and other extras are all charged separately. The fare you see first is not the fare you pay — price out your bags and seats before deciding if it beats a legacy carrier.
Why does this matter? Early schedule releases on budget airlines tend to come with the lowest fares, and booking winter or spring break travel to Puerto Rico this far out gives you both choice and usually a better rate. It also opens up a genuinely different style of trip: skip the San Juan hotel strip entirely, land in Aguadilla, and base yourself on the west coast for surfing, sunsets and fish tacos instead.
