Panama's Copa Airlines has become the airline du jour of the US points world, and Capital One is the latest bank to jump on board. From November 2, Capital One Venture and Spark cardholders can move miles into Copa's ConnectMiles program — and a launch promotion sweetens the deal with a 30% bonus running through December 1, 2026.

Here's the maths. The standard rate is 2:1.5, meaning 1,000 Capital One miles convert to 750 ConnectMiles. With the bonus, that jumps to 975 miles per 1,000 — close to parity, but not quite. Transfer 10,000 Capital One miles during the promo window and you'll land 9,750 Copa miles.

Worth noting: Capital One's deal isn't the best route to Copa miles. Rove has transferred at a flat 1:1 since September, and Citi added Copa on October 25 at 1:1 for premium ThankYou cardholders (Strata Elite, Strata Premier, Prestige and AT&T Access More) and 0.7:1 on no-fee cards like Double Cash. Rove even launched with a 40% bonus, though that has expired — its regular rate still beats Capital One's promotional one. Marriott Bonvoy members can also convert at 3:1, with a 5,000-mile bonus at the 60,000-point mark.

So why bother with Copa miles at all? The standout redemption is Emirates business class from the US to Dubai for 80,000 miles one way, with no carrier-imposed fuel surcharges — a rare thing when booking the Gulf carrier. Closer to home, Copa miles unlock United premium transcontinental business class for 25,000 miles one way when saver space is open, and economy awards from 15,000 miles one way between North America and Panama, Central America, bits of the Caribbean and northern South America.

For Capital One, this is the first new transfer partner in over a year, following Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways and I Prefer Hotel Rewards in September 2025. The roster now stands at 23 partners — though the bank keeps its conversions tight, with several big names like Emirates, EVA Air and JAL sitting at that less generous 2:1.5 ratio.

If you carry a Venture X, the practical takeaway: at the standard rate, every dollar spent earns 1.5 Copa miles. Pair a Citi Double Cash with an eligible premium ThankYou card and you'll earn 2 Copa miles per dollar instead. Aggressive points chasers will compare those numbers carefully before transferring anything. The real winner here is flexibility — one more pipeline to a program that books lie-flat Emirates seats without eye-watering fuel surcharges.
