Chase has announced the first big refresh of its Sapphire Reserve for Business card since launch, and one change will appeal to anyone who books boutique hotels through the bank's travel portal: the annual credit for The Edit stays is doubling.

From 1 January 2027, cardholders will get four statement credits of up to $250 each year for eligible stays of two nights or longer at The Edit properties booked through Chase Travel — up from two credits in 2026. Fully used, that's $1,000 back annually, which comfortably covers the card's $795 annual fee with $205 to spare. Chase confirmed the boost applies only to the business version of the card; the personal Sapphire Reserve keeps its existing credit.

The Edit perks themselves stay the same, and they're decent: daily breakfast for two, a $100 property credit per booking, a welcome amenity, complimentary Wi-Fi, room upgrades at check-in when available, and early check-in or late checkout when possible. There's also a price-match option if you find a lower rate on the same stay within 24 hours of booking.

The less welcome news hits a narrow group. From 15 November 2026, the card's 3x earning rate on social media and search engine advertising — previously uncapped and a favourite perk of big-spending businesses — will be limited to $1 million in eligible spend per account anniversary year. Anything beyond that earns 1 point per dollar. Chase says the vast majority of cardholders won't come close to the ceiling, and it's still well above the caps on competing small-business cards. The first cap year runs from 15 November 2026 to the statement where your next annual fee appears, then resets annually.

For newcomers, the welcome offer is a whopper: 200,000 bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $30,000 in the first six months. TPG's September 2026 valuations put that at around $4,100 — among the richest offers Chase has run. Mind the 5/24 rule, though: you'll be declined if you've opened five or more personal credit cards across any issuers in the past 24 months.

Who should care? Frequent travellers who can swing a business card and regularly book The Edit hotels will find the maths improve sharply from 2027 — if you use all four credits, the card pays for itself on that benefit alone. If your business pours seven figures a year into Google or Meta ads, it's worth checking whether the new cap changes your earning projections. Everyone else can mostly ignore the ad-spend change and consider whether that welcome bonus fits their spending plans.
