Chase has rolled out a new transfer bonus that adds 70% extra value when moving Ultimate Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy. The window runs from September 15 to October 15, 2026, and there's no cap on how many times or how many points you can move under the deal.
The mechanics are slightly unusual. Standard transfers go across at 1,000:1,000 and post instantly, but the bonus itself is paid by Marriott rather than Chase. That means the extra points can take up to seven days to appear in your Bonvoy account, so don't transfer the night before you plan to book an award stay. At the boosted rate, every 1,000 Chase points becomes 1,700 Bonvoy points.
Is it a good deal? Most points experts would say: only with a plan. Bonvoy points are typically valued around 0.7 cents each, versus roughly 1.7 cents for Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Even with the 70% bump, that works out to about 1.2 cents of value per Chase point — well below what you'd get transferring to airline partners like United, Hyatt, or British Airways, or just redeeming through Chase's own portal. On that math, the advice is simple: pass, unless you've spotted a specific hotel redemption where the numbers genuinely work in your favour.
There are a couple of situations where it can make sense. If you're a handful of points short of a high-value Bonvoy redemption — think a resort stay that would otherwise cost a lot in cash — a top-up transfer can close the gap cheaply. But even then, buying Bonvoy points during one of Marriott's regular discounted sales, or earning them via a Marriott co-branded credit card, is often the cheaper route.
One more caveat worth knowing: Marriott now uses dynamic award pricing, so there's no ceiling on how many points a hotel can demand for a night. That undermines the classic strategy of hoarding hotel points for peak-season redemptions, though sweet spots still exist, especially at all-inclusive resorts and lower-category properties.
If you do use this offer, time it carefully. Transfer early enough for the bonus points to land within the seven-day window, and have your target redemption picked out first — Bonvoy award rates can move, and points you park in Marriott are points you can't easily move back.
