Crystal is giving loyal fans of the Crystal Serenity something new to book. During a 2028 drydock in Lisbon, the ship will gain a two-bedroom Crystal Owner's Suite plus four Junior Penthouse Premium Suites, with the new accommodation open for guests from sailing dates starting 5 May 2028.
The headline addition is the Owner's Suite, set on deck 11 midship. At 1,722 square feet of interior space plus a 409-square-foot veranda, it's less a cabin and more a floating apartment. Plans call for a living room with a library and fireplace, a dining area with panoramic ocean views served by a butler's pantry and personalised bar service, and a whole-suite Hi-Fi system with multi-zone controls in the living room and bedroom. The master bedroom gets a king-size bed, two large walk-in closets and a marble-lined bathroom with a Jacuzzi; there's a second bedroom with its own bathroom and closet, and even Technogym equipment with coaching programmes positioned for ocean views.
The four Junior Penthouse Premium Suites are more modest but still generous: 861 square feet inside with a 205-square-foot veranda each. They slot in alongside the Serenity's six existing Junior Penthouse Deluxe Suites, giving cruise travellers a fresh mid-luxury tier to aim for.
It's not the only work planned. Before the 2028 Lisbon refit, the Serenity heads into drydock this month, where the Aquamarine Classic Suite category on deck 10 will be refreshed. Crystal's hotel operations leadership has framed the changes as an evolution rather than a reinvention — updating design and choice while keeping the ship's easy, familiar character intact.
For anyone who already sails Crystal, the practical takeaway is that the top-end accommodation mix on the Serenity changes from mid-2028. Suite inventory at this level is small — one Owner's Suite and four Premium Penthouses — so anyone chasing a specific sailing after May 2028 should expect these to be the first categories to sell. For newer-to-Crystal travellers, the refreshed suite tiers make the Serenity a more interesting option in the luxury cruise space, especially combined with the ongoing deck 10 updates. Worth watching Crystal's 2028 spring Mediterranean itineraries for the first sailings out of the drydock, which tend to showcase freshly refitted ships.
