Disney's biggest fan convention is finally coming to Southeast Asia. D23 Asia: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will run from 25th to 27th June 2027 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands — the first time the event has been staged in Singapore, and only its fourth Asia edition after Tokyo-hosted runs in 2013, 2015 and 2018.

Launched in 2009, D23 works a bit like Comic-Con but entirely Disney: live presentations, early announcements and immersive experiences spanning Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars. The programme for the Singapore edition, announced on 5th November, splits neatly across three days. Friday is Studio Showcase, with reveals and unseen footage from the major franchises plus surprise celebrity guests. Saturday shifts to the Disney+ Showcase, highlighting new Korean and Japanese series and streaming titles alongside appearances by Asian creators and stars. Sunday closes with Disney Hits LIVE!, a concert of classic Disney and Pixar songs performed by Broadway vocalists with a live band and full concert production.

Beyond the main stages, the event promises 15 immersive experiences. The Storytellers Stage hosts panels with the people behind Disney's biggest films and series, Talent Central offers character meet-and-greets, and the Spotlight Stage mixes live entertainment with fan programming. Shoppers get two options: the D23 Marketplace for collectables, apparel and accessories, and the Walt Disney Company Store, which will sell D23 Asia-themed merchandise plus items normally reserved for Disney's employee stores — available to the Asia Pacific public for the first time.

For a taste of the scale, the recent California flagship event dropped a hefty list of announcements: a Villains Land and Cars-themed expansion at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, a Monsters, Inc. land opening in 2027, the world's first Wreck-It Ralph ride at Tokyo Disneyland in spring 2027, plus film dates including Frozen 3 (November 2027), live-action Tangled (March 2027), Incredibles 3 (summer 2028), Lilo & Stitch 2 (May 2028), Coco 2 (November 2029) and a Princess Diaries 3 with Anne Hathaway. Expect a similar mix of park, film and streaming news in Singapore.

Tickets go on sale in late November, with prices and the full programme to follow later. For Disney fans in Asia who've never had a realistic shot at attending the Anaheim convention, this is the closest thing to it on home soil — and a solid excuse to plan a Singapore city break around Marina Bay in the process.
