Dubai's after-dark scene just got its report card. The What's On Nightlife Awards 2026 handed out 28 trophies across the city's bars, clubs, brunches, beach venues and late-night kitchens — 22 chosen by the What's On team, six decided by public vote — and the winners list doubles as a handy cheat sheet for anyone planning a night out in the UAE's biggest city.

On the music side, techno legend Carl Cox took best concert for his season-closing set at Pacha ICONS, held at FIVE LUXE JBR in May, beating out Calvin Harris at Ushuaïa Dubai Harbour and Garage Nation DXB at Zero Gravity. Comedy honours went to Abz Ali's roasts at Pepperoni Comedy Club, where audience members in the front row should brace themselves, while the best quiz night is We Quiz at garden on 8, a rooftop midweek fixture with real prizes up for grabs.

The dinner-and-a-show crown landed with Billionaire Dubai, where Italian-Japanese food shares the bill with acrobats and theatrical performances. For romantics, SUSHISAMBA on level 51 — with its Palm views and Japanese-Brazilian-Peruvian menu — was named the top date-night spot.

Brunch, as ever, is serious business in Dubai. Bubbalicious at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi won best party brunch for its long-running Saturday spread of decadent food and Champagne, while BA – Boldly Asian at Fairmont The Palm claimed the evening brunch category with free-flowing drinks and Pan-Asian dishes on Friday nights. CÉ LA VI came out on top for party restaurants, with DJs lifting the Downtown energy well past dessert.

Daytime winners lean heavily on Dubai's shoreline. AURA Skypool — billed as the world's highest infinity pool — took best pool day for its 360-degree views, and La Cantine Beach won best beach club for combining Mediterranean dining, pools and wellness. Shimmers at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam was named the top sundowner spot, while Casita by Casa Amor at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira won best beach restaurant.

Purists are covered too: Luna Dubai at Four Seasons DIFC won best rooftop bar, Smoke & Mirrors inside SLS Dubai took the speakeasy category, The Eloquent Elephant in Business Bay claimed best pub, and Seven Sports Bar at NH Collection The Palm won for big-game viewing. There was even a category for coffee parties, won by the oddly charming Secret Coffee Parties — DJs and dancing, but in the morning.

Why care? Because Dubai's nightlife is sprawling to the point of paralysis — hundreds of venues, endless brunch formats, rooftop upon rooftop — and a shortlist like this filters out the filler. If you're heading to the city for a long weekend, picking two or three of these winners covers most bases: a beach day at AURA or La Cantine, sundowners at Shimmers, a party brunch, and a rooftop or speakeasy to close the night. Budget travellers should note that several Highly Commended picks — The Dubliners for an Irish pub night, Urban Bar Deli's quiz, Five Iron Golf — skew more affordable than the five-star headliners.
