Dubai's weekend rotation just got a greener option. Emirates Bio Farm, the UAE's largest organic farm, has reopened in Al Shuwaib for the season — about an hour's drive from Dubai on the road to Al Ain. It's the kind of place where the skyline disappears entirely and you're left with open fields, animals to feed and a farm shop full of just-picked veg.

The setup is simple. Farm visits run all week from 9am to 5pm, and a standard ticket buys you access to the organic fields, animal feeding sessions and the train barrel ride that loops around the farm. Prices are Dhs50 from Monday to Friday and Dhs75 on Saturdays, with under-threes free. There's a neat sweetener too: Dhs50 of your ticket comes back as credit at the on-site shop and restaurant (not valid on public holidays or private events), so that bag of organic produce is essentially covered.

The bigger draw is the Sunday brunch at The Farmer's Table, a buffet built entirely around what's growing a few metres away. Two sittings are on offer — 9am to 1pm or 1.30pm to 5pm — serving the same spread. Adults pay Dhs140 and children aged three to 12 pay Dhs80, with under-threes free. Brunch tickets include full farm access with no time limit, so families can feed animals, hop on the barrel train, get faces painted and let the kids loose in the play area either before or after eating.

For Dubai families who've had their fill of malls and indoor playgrounds, this is a genuinely different kind of day out — hands-on, outdoors and cheap by local standards, especially given the credit attached to the basic ticket. Bookings go through emiratesbiofarm.com.
