Booking data and early demand for winter 2026/27 are already pointing at a handful of family-friendly resorts, and ski specialist Ski Solutions has flagged three it expects to be in particular demand: La Plagne in France, Trysil in Norway and Courmayeur in Italy. Here is what makes each one work for a trip with kids in tow.
La Plagne sits within the huge Paradiski area, with 134 groomed slopes and off-piste options on the north face of Bellecôte. The family credentials run deep: multiple ski schools, kids' clubs and childcare across the resort, including Club Piou Piou lessons for three- and four-year-olds and creches taking children from five months old. If you want everything handled, Club Med La Plagne 2100 offers ski-in, ski-out access at 2,100m, 340 rooms, Savoyard dining and age-banded kids' clubs from toddlers to teens. Ski Solutions has seven all-inclusive nights there from £1,905pp with flights, transfers, lift pass and tuition, departing 11 April.
Trysil, near the Swedish border, is Norway's largest ski resort and a very easy sell for parents: children under seven ski free, and there's a dedicated kids' zone with gentle forest trails, magic carpets and a talking tree. Sixty-six runs suit mixed abilities, and the lift system keeps queueing to a minimum. Base yourself at the Radisson Blu Resort, which is ski-in, ski-out and comes with an adventure pool, indoor bowling, a FlowRider surf wave, a climbing wall and a proper spa for the adults. A week there on bed and breakfast, with flights and shared transfers, starts at £1,295pp departing 10 January.
Courmayeur is the shortest-haul option of the three — around 90 minutes from Geneva airport — sitting at the foot of Mont Blanc with reliable high-altitude snow. It suits families who also want atmosphere: a historic Alpine village with boutiques, bars and proper Italian dining, plus easy day trips through the Mont Blanc Tunnel to Chamonix. The five-star Hotel Le Massif & Lodge adds ski concierge and valet services, a slope-side lodge at 2,000m, Mont Blanc-view terraces and a dedicated kids' area with age-specific meals. A four-night break there on B&B with flights and private transfers starts at £905pp departing 25 March.
Why it matters: if you're planning a family ski trip for next winter, the earlier you book, the better the choice of family rooms and childcare — and these three cover very different briefs. La Plagne is the all-inclusive, everything-under-one-roof pick for young children; Trysil is the budget-friendlier option if your kids are under seven; Courmayeur works for a shorter, more stylish escape with older kids. Prices quoted include flights and transfers, so they're a fair benchmark for what a package should cost.
