Kazakhstan's low-cost carrier FlyArystan is putting a route back on the map: direct flights between Aktau and Dubai restart on November 21, running twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. For anyone in the Mangystau Region on the Caspian coast, it means no more fiddly connections to reach the UAE.
The timings are notably traveller-friendly. Tuesday's service leaves Aktau at 5:15 a.m. and lands in Dubai at 9:50 a.m., with the return departing at 10:55 a.m. and getting back to Aktau by 5:25 p.m. Saturdays run slightly later: a 7:20 a.m. departure arriving at 11:55 a.m., then a 1 p.m. flight home that touches down at 7:30 p.m. All times are local. In practice, both rotations give you a near-full day on either end — useful whether you're heading out for a beach break or coming home with a suitcase full of sale hauls.
The restart is clearly timed to catch Dubai's winter high season, when the city is at its most livable and busiest. The Dubai Shopping Festival runs from December 4 to January 17, and Global Village — the sprawling multicultural food-and-shopping park — stays open until May 2027. Beyond the big two, the seasonal line-up includes the Dubai Miracle Garden, which blooms only in the cooler months, plus family-heavy theme parks like Motiongate, Legoland and the newer Real Madrid World.
The paperwork side is refreshingly simple for Kazakh travellers: no visa is required for UAE stays of up to 30 days, though passports need at least six months of validity remaining. That makes a spontaneous winter sun trip genuinely feasible — book a Tuesday, be at a pool by lunchtime.
Why it matters: Aktau has been steadily building itself up as a Caspian seaside city and gateway to western Kazakhstan, and direct links like this cut both ways. It's a cheap, straightforward route to a major hub for locals, and it makes combining a Caspian stop with a Gulf trip far easier for visitors heading the other way. If you've been eyeing a two-centre trip — desert canyons around Mangystau followed by Dubai's winter festivals — this schedule practically does the itinerary for you.
