Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. are proving to be one of the hottest live tickets in Europe right now — and Zagreb is the latest city to find out just how quickly their shows disappear. The band's planned date at Šalata Stadium, a popular open-air venue in the Croatian capital, sold out in a mere 45 minutes, setting a new record as the fastest-selling concert in the venue's history.
With demand outstripping the stadium's capacity almost immediately after tickets went on sale, organisers announced a venue change on Friday, 30 October. The show now moves to Arena Zagreb, Croatia's largest indoor arena, and keeps its original date of 31 May 2027.
The good news for anyone who missed the first rush: tickets for the bigger venue are already on sale through the Core Event ticketing platform. Standing floor tickets start at €55, while seats in the stands cost €62. The upgrade also means Zagreb joins the ranks of major arena and stadium dates on the band's 2027 touring schedule, rather than being a smaller festival-style stop.
For travellers, this is a handy excuse to build a city break around a gig. Late May is a great window to visit Zagreb — warm enough for café terraces and Upper Town strolls, but ahead of the peak summer crowds. The city is compact and walkable, with Ban Jelačić Square at its heart, and the arena sits a short tram ride east of the centre. Many fans who couldn't get Šalata tickets the first time will now get a second chance, and the €55 starting price is reasonable for an arena rock show by western European standards.
If you're flying in for the concert, it's worth tacking on a few extra days. Zagreb makes an easy base for day trips — Plitvice Lakes National Park is under two and a half hours away by car or bus, and the coastal city of Rijeka is reachable by train. Just be aware that late May can bring occasional rain showers, so pack a light layer alongside the festival gear.
