A hotel credit card isn't the usual holiday read, but when a welcome bonus is this large, it can literally pay for a trip. The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is currently running a limited-time offer of 150,000 Hilton Honors points plus a free night award after you spend $8,000 in the first six months — available for applications through January 13, 2027. That free night certificate can be redeemed at properties costing up to 250,000 points per night, which puts some genuinely high-end Hiltons in reach. At a rough valuation of half a cent per point, the bonus alone is worth around $750, before counting the night award.
The card costs $195 a year, and there's a decent case that the perks cover that on their own. Cardholders get up to $240 back annually on Hilton spending, doled out as $60 statement credits per quarter on purchases made directly with Hilton properties. Stay at a Hilton once a quarter — even on points, as long as you put incidentals on the card — and you've already broken even. On top of that, you get complimentary Hilton Gold status for as long as you hold the card, which brings free breakfast or lounge access (or a food and beverage credit at US properties), late checkout when available, preferred rooms, an 80% points bonus, and the fifth night free on award bookings. Spend $40,000 on the card in a calendar year and you'll unlock top-tier Diamond status instead, with suite upgrades at the hotel's discretion and a 100% points bonus.
Earning rates are solid: 12x points at Hilton properties (roughly a 6% return at that valuation) and 5x points on everything else for the first $100,000 of spending each calendar year, dropping to 3x after that. There are no foreign transaction fees, and the card throws in National Car Rental Emerald Club Executive status — handy for skipping the counter and picking your own car in the US and Canada. Authorized users can be added free of charge.
A few practical notes if you're tempted. Amex's "once in a lifetime" rule means the bonus isn't available if you currently hold or have previously held this specific card, though personal Hilton cards don't count against you — they're treated as separate products. Amex also caps approvals at two credit cards per 90 days and generally five Amex credit cards at once. One thing not to do: don't convert Hilton points to airline miles. The transfer rate works out to 1,000 miles for 10,000 Hilton points, which is poor value. Points are best spent on hotel stays, especially since standard room awards range from 5,000 to 250,000 points per night and Hilton's Points Explorer tool shows live pricing for the next 30 days. The partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World also opens up hundreds of boutique properties where points go further than you'd expect.
For frequent Hilton guests — particularly small business owners who can put everyday spend on the card — this is one of the more generous hotel co-brands on the market. If you'd rather skip the business card, the personal Hilton Surpass offers a similar core package at $150 a year, with a smaller credits allowance.
