Not every destination does Christmas properly, but Seminyak gives it a decent shot. Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach has just rolled out its full festive programme, and it runs from Christmas Eve straight through to the New Year's countdown — with its two flagship restaurants, Makase and SugarSand, doing most of the heavy lifting.
The schedule kicks off on Christmas Eve with a festive buffet dinner at Makase, the resort's Southeast Asian restaurant, complete with a live band and a fire dance. Christmas Day splits in two: a lunchtime buffet brunch at Makase with more than 14 stations (roasted honey pork belly ham, wagyu beef, gelato for the kids, chefs cooking live) or an evening multi-course sharing dinner at SugarSand on the sand, where a new "borderless" menu mixes Mediterranean, Asian and Italian flavours. In-house families get free kids' activities throughout — crafts, games, movie nights, treasure hunts.
New Year's Eve repeats the double option — buffet at Makase or beachfront dinner at SugarSand — before the party shifts at 11.30pm to SugarSand's Upper Deck and Kiosk Beachfront Deck, where DJs play through to the midnight toast. Worth knowing: you don't need to be a guest to eat. Anyone can book a table at either restaurant, though the free children's programme is reserved for in-house guests.
The resort itself is part of the pitch. There are 289 rooms, suites and pool villas, starting from IDR 4,100,000++ a night for a standard room and IDR 9,900,000++ for a villa. The showpiece is an 800 sqm two-bedroom pool villa sleeping up to four adults and two children under 12, with a private pool, covered daybed, open-air living pavilion, private kitchen and a 24-hour butler — genuinely useful if you're travelling as a group and everyone needs a bit of distance. Couples aren't forgotten either: the hotel just took Silver for Best Honeymoon Hotel in Bali at the Bali's Best Awards 2026, with sunset views from SugarSand and couples' treatment rooms at Sava Spa.
Once the festivities wind down, recovery options are built in. Sava Spa sits under a Zen pool modelled on Bali's traditional subak irrigation system, offering Balinese massages, a 120-minute Magic Glow ritual (coffee scrub, massage, facial), plus a sauna and ice bath. Elsewhere there are free Balinese dress-up and endek painting sessions, paid yoga from IDR 125,000, latte art and Balinese dance classes at IDR 250,000, and a guided neighbourhood bike ride into Seminyak itself.
Rooms go fast for the festive window, so if a beach countdown with fire dancers sounds like your kind of Christmas, book early — or at minimum lock in a dinner table before the calendars fill.
