Willemstad's Pietermaai district is about to get a big new neighbour. Marriott is opening The Pyrmont Curaçao, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, in the first week of December — a 305-room, adults-only property set right on the waterfront in one of the Caribbean's most atmospheric neighbourhoods.
The location is the selling point. Rather than parking guests in a self-contained compound far from town, The Pyrmont puts you within walking distance of Pietermaai's cafés, restaurants and famously colourful colonial streets, with the UNESCO-listed historic centre of Willemstad close by. Curaçao's international airport is roughly a 20-minute drive away.
The resort mixes new-build rooms — 305 in total, including 36 suites, facing either the sea or the city — with two restored historic residences, Cerro Bonito and Kas di Pueblo, which add a neoclassical touch to what is otherwise a contemporary seaside design. The all-inclusive rate covers accommodation, dining, selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, minibar items and in-room dining. Also bundled in: scheduled round-trip airport transfers, access to two pools and the fitness centre, and nonmotorised water sports such as snorkelling, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Spa treatments and some other services cost extra.
One thing to know before booking: this is a phased opening. Some amenities will have limited availability at first, and two of the headline venues don't arrive until 2027 — Cerro Bonito, an ocean-view restaurant inside one of the restored residences, and Vista Waldeck, a rooftop bar. If a specific restaurant or facility is the reason you'd book, check it will actually be open for your dates.
For travellers, this matters because Marriott-branded all-inclusives are still relatively rare in the southern Caribbean, and an urban, walkable all-inclusive is rarer still. Most all-inclusive resorts on Curaçao sit along the island's western beaches; this one lets you dip between a resort routine and evenings out in a genuine neighbourhood. It suits couples after an adults-only trip who don't want to feel sealed off from local life — and points-hunters will note it counts toward Marriott's Bonvoy programme via the Autograph Collection banner. If you go during the early months, expect the bones of a very good resort with a few venues still to come.
