Abu Dhabi's biggest tennis party is coming back. The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, a WTA 500 event, runs its fifth edition from 30 January to 6 February 2027 at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City.

This is now a firmly established stop on the women's tour. The 2026 edition pulled in more than 60,000 visitors, and next year's tournament will again feature 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams battling across eight days for a share of a US$1.2 million prize pot and valuable ranking points. For tennis fans wintering in the Gulf, it's a rare chance to see top-level WTA action outdoors in genuinely pleasant weather.

The big news for 2027 is the new Village Pass. It opens up the 15,000-square-metre Mubadala Village, where you'll find live entertainment, tennis clinics, player Q&As, kids' activities, food and drink and merch stands. Over the opening weekend of 30 and 31 January, the pass also gets you into all the qualifying matches — and adults pay just Dhs10 per day, with kids under 12 going free. Match tickets start at Dhs10 too, with finals seats from Dhs178.50.

One thing to note: the 2027 event is fully ticketed, so everyone entering the stadium or joining Village activities will need a valid pass. Organisers are leaning into the family angle, with the tournament framed as much as a community festival as a sporting contest.

Why it matters for travellers: Abu Dhabi in late January is a sweet spot — warm, sunny days perfect for combining courtside sessions with beach time, the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, or a Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque visit. And with entry priced at pocket change, it's one of the cheapest ways to watch elite sport anywhere in the region.
