A new reason to look past the usual Greek island heavyweights: Nírema Hotel & Spa Samos – MGallery Collection opens on 18 September on the seafront at Vathy Bay, and it's trading on the Samian word for "dream".
The property keeps things deliberately small. There are just 72 rooms, and the hotel is adults-leaning in an unusual way: guests must be 13 or older, so it sits somewhere between family-friendly and fully adults-only. Eight of the rooms are suites with private pools and terraces, and everyone is steps from the beach.
The name might be new but the region's wine pedigree isn't. Samos has produced wine for more than 3,000 years, and the hotel leans into it with the Curvus wine cellar, offering Muscat tastings and pairings. Dining covers two more bases: Apagia for all-day meals and the Apora Pool Restaurant, plus a mixology-focused pool bar. A spa, fitness centre and outdoor pool round out the facilities.
Getting there is straightforward. Samos International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel and roughly 50 minutes from Athens. In summer there are direct seasonal flights from London Gatwick, Brussels, Amsterdam, Vienna and Milan. If you're already in Türkiye, the ferry from Kuşadası takes about an hour — one of the shortest international hops in the Aegean.
The island itself rewards a few days beyond the sun lounger. The Samos Wine Museum covers traditional winemaking, and vineyards across the island sell bottles directly. History-wise, the Pythagoreion and Heraion of Samos hold UNESCO World Heritage status: an ancient fortified port with a tunnel-aqueduct, paired with the temple of the Samian Hera. For beach time, Paralia Gaggou and Livadaki Beach are among the go-to spots.
Who's this for? Couples and grown-up travellers who want a compact, design-led base with wine and spa time built in, rather than a sprawling resort. The 13-plus policy and small room count make it quieter by design, and a September opening means you can catch the tail of the Aegean summer before the crowds thin further in October.
