Southwest has launched a promotion called "Enter Airplane Mode" that turns your notification anxiety into airline points. Upload screenshots of your phone's home screen showing unread notification badges, and you'll earn one Rapid Rewards point per genuine unread notification — up to 10,000 points. Add a short "Burnout Quiz" on top and the total can reach 10,500 points.

The mechanics are simple but strict. Visit NotificationVacation.com on your phone, enter your Rapid Rewards number, and upload up to 10 clear, uncropped screenshots taken during the promotion window, in PNG or JPEG format. You get one submission and one award, so include every screen before confirming. You're told to hide message previews without altering the counts, and edited, stitched or duplicate screenshots are disqualified. The quiz adds a flat 500 points regardless of your score, so a person with 100 unread notifications walks away with 1,000 points, while someone with 6,200 gets 6,700. True inbox-zero types earn nothing.

There's a catch on timing: the points pools are finite. The notification offer runs until October 12, 2026, but only 150 million points are set aside, with roughly 21 million released daily — and each day's allocation can dry up. The quiz, open until December 10, 2026, has 37 million points, enough for 74,000 awards. Both can end early once the points are gone. You need to be a Rapid Rewards member, 18 or older and a US resident, and the points won't help toward A-List, A-List Preferred or Companion Pass status.

The irony hasn't gone unnoticed. Southwest is simultaneously rolling out Starlink wifi — more than 300 aircraft equipped by the end of 2026 — which moves it from having the worst connectivity among US carriers to near the top. So the same airline asking you to escape the pings is making sure those pings can find you at 35,000 feet, for free, gate to gate.

Still, for anyone with a Rapid Rewards account and a clogged phone, this is one of the easiest free points giveaways around. Rapid Rewards points have real value against future Southwest fares, and 10,500 points takes about five minutes of screenshot work. Just move fast — the daily pool is the real deadline, not the calendar.
