Tauck is testing a new idea on the Seine: two sailings of its 10-day "Rendezvous on the Seine" itinerary will get a full wellness overlay, with fitness, nutrition and mindfulness programming layered on top of the usual sightseeing. The two departures, on July 28 and October 11, 2027, run aboard the river ship Serene, sailing round-trip from Paris with time in the French capital and stops through Normandy.
The wellness content is built around three themes. "Move" covers guided movement and fitness sessions, "Savor" looks at nutrition and how food connects to how you feel, and "Restore" is about mindfulness, recovery and downtime. Everything is optional — if you'd rather spend the morning on a Normandy excursion than a stretch class, nobody's stopping you. Fitness coach Nikki Polos, founder of the platform Workout Worthy, will host both sailings.
The programming starts before you board and continues after you're home, with resources to keep the habits going. On board, the Serene is reasonably well set up for it: The Retreat on the upper Diamond Deck has a fitness centre with river views, a massage treatment room and a lounge, while the Sun Deck has a pool and bar for slower hours.
Pricing starts at $7,490 per person (double occupancy, plus airfare) for the July departure and $9,190 for the October one. Both are fully inclusive and open for booking now.
What's interesting is what happens next: Tauck has confirmed five more Wellness Departures across a wider range of itineraries in 2028, with preliminary bookings for its 2028 river cruises opening soon. If the Seine sailings sell well, expect this to become a standard option rather than an experiment.
For travellers, this is a low-risk way to combine a proper cultural trip — Paris, Monet country, the D-Day coastline — with a gentle fitness reset. You don't have to be a wellness devotee; the structure means you can dip in as much or as little as you like. Book early if the July date appeals, as smaller river ships tend to fill quickly on prime-summer departures.
