Portuguese hotel group Tivoli has landed in Oman's capital. The new Tivoli LA VIE Muscat Hotel & Residences sits within the LA VIE development in Madinat Al Irfan, and it's the brand's fourth property in the Middle East — a lineage that stretches back to Lisbon in 1933.
The hotel is compact by big-resort standards: 79 rooms and suites, from 40 sqm Superior and Deluxe Golf View rooms up to a 160 sqm Two Bedroom Presidential Suite. Every room comes with Dyson kit, SMEG machines, Amouage bathroom amenities and Läderach chocolates at turndown, with soft coastal tones and Omani craft details throughout. Many rooms and suites look over the golf course, some with private terraces or balconies.
Food is the real headline here. SEEN by Olivier da Costa has opened its first Middle East outpost on the rooftop, pairing bold global dishes with views over the LA VIE Country Club and Muscat's evening skies. There's also S O L É for seasonal Mediterranean cooking, a sports bar and cigar vault overlooking the fairway, and more on the way this year — Benihana's teppanyaki theatre and an all-day Coffee Club.
Wellness facilities are unusually strong for Muscat. The city's first Anantara Spa has opened on site, alongside what's claimed to be Muscat's longest rooftop infinity pool and a Technogym-equipped gym.
Golfers get a genuine first: this is Oman's first hotel built on a championship course. The 18-hole layout was designed by Paul Thomas and is run by Troon, and the country's only Toptracer driving facility is here too. The Juman Ballroom — one of Muscat's largest at 520 guests, with an 18 x 7 metre LED wall — signals the property's ambitions in the events market as well.
