Vietnam Airlines is adding a seventh India route. From 3 November 2026, the carrier will fly nonstop between Hanoi and Ahmedabad four times a week on Airbus A321s, pushing its total India schedule to 25 round trips per week.
The timetable works well for a long weekend either way. Outbound flights leave Hanoi at 5:35 p.m. and land in Ahmedabad at 9:30 p.m. local time, while the return departs Ahmedabad at 10:45 p.m. and reaches Hanoi at 4:35 a.m. the next morning. Both directions run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Ahmedabad becomes the airline's fifth Indian city, joining Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, served from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It is a notable choice: rather than another big metros play, the route targets Gujarat, a state with strong business links to Vietnam and a large outbound travel base. The airline's executive vice president, Nguyen Quang Trung, framed the route as supporting tourism, trade and cooperation with Gujarat specifically.
The demand numbers back the move up. India is now Vietnam's eighth-largest source of international visitors, and in the first nine months of 2026 more than 670,000 Indians travelled there, a 33% jump year on year. Beyond the main cities, beach and resort spots such as Da Nang and Phu Quoc are drawing growing numbers of Indian holidaymakers — a pattern that has been driven partly by visa-free or e-visa access and increasingly direct flights.
The Ahmedabad route slots into a busy year of expansion for Vietnam Airlines. Since the start of 2026 it has launched new services to Amsterdam, Colombo and Phuket, and added frequencies on routes to Munich, Moscow, Taipei, Osaka, Tokyo and Seoul.
For travellers, the practical upshot is straightforward: anyone in Gujarat or western India no longer needs to route through Delhi or Mumbai to reach Vietnam. Direct evening flights mean you can be in Hanoi by early morning, with easy onward connections to Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City or Phu Quoc. Conversely, Vietnamese travellers get one-tap access to Gujarat's heritage circuit — Ahmedabad's old city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Rann of Kutch, Dwarka and the Statue of Unity all sit within reach.
Expect the schedule to appear in Vietnam Airlines' booking system well before the November start date, and compare fares against one-stop options via Bangkok or Singapore, which have traditionally served this market cheaply. Breaking Travel News reported the launch.
