Run clubs have had their moment in Singapore — now the walking club is quietly taking over. From leisurely park strolls to epic 61km treks that follow entire MRT lines, there's a group here for almost every pace and personality. Most are free, and nearly all end with food, coffee or a drink.

The biggest of the bunch is I Walk I Hike I Eat I Travel, a Meetup community with around 17,800 members and more than 200 organised walks behind it. Sessions run on Thursdays and alternate weekends, usually starting late afternoon, and draw 40-50 walkers per outing. Routes of 8-12km take in spots like East Coast Park, the Mandai Boardwalk, Kent Ridge Park and HortPark, and many finish with a group meal. Joining costs nothing — just RSVP on Meetup or follow their WhatsApp channel.

Prefer a gentler pace? Singapore Walking Group holds relaxed strolls on alternate Saturdays at 5pm across parks and neighbourhood trails, with about 7,800 members. It's a good pick for beginners or a family outing with parents in tow. For something less predictable, the Singapore Hash House Harriets set mystery trails every Wednesday at 6pm, marked with flour, chalk and ribbons by an organiser called the hare. Walks cover 7-10km over roughly an hour and end with 'On-On' social gatherings involving food, drinks and the odd Hash song. This one isn't free: guests pay $15 (women) or $20 (men), with quarterly memberships from $110.

On the quirky end of the scale, content creator Trevor Kam walks entire MRT lines and invites the public along. His completed challenges range from the 25km North East Line in five hours to a 61km North-South Line epic taking 16 — the latter drawing 150 participants. You can hop on or off at any station, which makes these far less intimidating than they sound. His East-West Line walk is still to come, announced via his TikTok, Instagram or Sidequests Central on Telegram.

Other options round out the scene nicely. Walkie Talkie runs monthly curated walks for people who find small talk hard, using questionnaires to build groups, then adding icebreakers, games and secret missions. Weekend Miles & Smiles is a small, new Meetup group doing slow weekend nature walks with photo stops and post-walk kopi, at places like Jurong Lake Gardens and Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. In the north, the Sembawang Central Let's Jalan initiative launched in April 2026 with seven neighbourhood brisk walking clubs, backed by the Health Promotion Board and already over 280 members strong. Happy Girl Movement rounds things out with women-focused walks built around wellbeing and friendship.

For travellers, this is a genuinely good way to see Singapore beyond the malls — these walks pass through Gardens, wetlands, coastal stretches and heartland neighbourhoods most visitors never reach, and locals are usually happy to share tips. Most clubs welcome one-off joiners, so check Meetup or WhatsApp for the schedule during your trip. Locals after a low-pressure social hobby will find even more reason to lace up.
