Amsterdam Noord has a new place to land — and it's built for people staying a while. Wilde, the boutique aparthotel brand, has opened Wilde Amsterdam, a 120-key property on the northern bank of the IJ River, and it's the first in the brand's portfolio designed specifically for extended stays. Minimum booking: seven nights.
The hotel occupies eight floors of the new Yvie residential development and offers studios plus one- and two-bedroom apartments that work as actual homes. Think fully equipped kitchens, proper living areas, Hypnos mattresses, blackout blinds and enough storage to genuinely unpack. Hotel-style services are on hand too — a 24-hour reception, gym, co-working lounges, a self-service deli, bike parking and pet-friendly options.
The social heart is Oscar's, an open-plan bar and living space that shifts with the day from morning coffee spot to martini hour, with small plates and craft beer in between. There's a rooftop garden and terrace for warm evenings, and a semi-private dining snug seating up to fifteen for longer dinners and celebrations. A disco ball made with Pierre Frey hangs over the bar, and a carved oak DJ booth nods to the area's floristry past. The communal interiors come from London-based designer Stephanie Barba Mendoza, whose bold palette of burgundy, terracotta, citrine and lavender runs from a hand-painted lobby mural by Dutch artist Lisette van Hoogenhuyze through to terrazzo floors and brass detailing. Bedrooms, by Wilde's in-house team, lean on leather, timber, marble and lacquer.
Location is half the story. Noord — once an industrial and shipbuilding district — is now Amsterdam's creative frontier. The EYE Filmmuseum and A'DAM Lookout sit across the water, the NDSM shipyard is a ten-minute bike ride away with its studios, exhibitions and restaurants, and the STRAAT Museum fills a former warehouse with huge-scale street art. Tolhuistuin programmes music and culture year-round, while Noorderpark and the waterside cycle routes offer a greener escape towards the countryside. Wilde's riverside position keeps guests out of the centre's crowds without cutting them off — ferries make the crossing quick and free.
The opening follows Wilde launches in Lisbon, Vienna and Porto earlier in 2026 and fits the brand's pattern of setting up in culturally rooted neighbourhoods, pairing apartment comfort with design-led public spaces and Irish-inflected hospitality.
Who's it for? Anyone in the city for a month or more — relocating professionals, long business assignments, remote workers, or travellers who simply want more than a two-night sprint through the canals. If you've ever tried to live out of a standard hotel room for a fortnight, the appeal of a kitchen, a lounge and a neighbourhood bar downstairs is obvious.
