Direct flights between Cape Town and Paris are returning. Air France will relaunch its seasonal Cape Town–Paris-Charles de Gaulle route on 22 September 2026, running through to 27 March 2027 — covering the festive season, European ski season and the southern African summer all in one sweep.
The schedule starts modestly: three flights a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) between 22 September and 31 October 2026, with a night departure from Cape Town at around 00:15 landing in Paris at 12:15 the same day. From 1 November 2026, the route ramps up to five flights a week — Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays — with a more civilised 08:30 departure arriving at Charles de Gaulle by 19:20.
Air France is flying the route with its Airbus A350-900, one of its flagship long-haul aircraft, so expect a newer cabin than on many older long-haul workhorses. Economy fares start from around R7,600 at the time of the announcement, which puts a direct trip to France within reach for plenty of South African travellers.
The airline says the return reflects demand on both sides: South Africans heading to France, plus tourism, business and cultural ties between the two cities. The practical upside goes beyond Paris itself. Charles de Gaulle is Air France's main hub, so the direct flight doubles as a gateway to the rest of Europe — think quick connections on to Italy, Spain, Germany or beyond without a separate stop in another airport. For Capetonians, it also means skipping the usual detour through Johannesburg or a Middle Eastern hub to get to Europe.
Five weekly flights through the peak season should also make pricing and flexibility a bit friendlier. More frequency generally means more fare buckets and easier date changes when plans shift around Christmas or the European summer-holiday crunch.

Anyone in the Western Cape planning a European holiday over the 2026/27 festive period or early 2027, French travellers eyeing a Cape Town summer trip, and flyers who simply want one ticket, one aircraft and no connection to get between the two cities. If you're booking, note that the morning schedule from November suits arrivals in Europe by evening — handy for a same-night train into central Paris or an onward connection the following morning. With fares from R7,600 in economy, it's worth comparing against via-hub options, since direct convenience sometimes comes at a premium in peak weeks.
