A £25 million transformation is turning Ardencote Manor in Warwickshire into one of the largest spa resorts in the country, with doors expected to open in early 2027. The property sits on 83 acres of countryside near Stratford-upon-Avon, overlooking a three-acre lake — a suitably calm backdrop for what's being billed as a serious wellness destination.
The resort is the third UK site from Hiddenwell, the group behind the well-regarded destination spas Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire and Eden Hall in Nottinghamshire. Fans of those properties will recognise the formula: long, unhurried visits built around heat, cold, water and food, whether that's a spa day, an evening session or a full overnight stay.
The headline attraction is hard to miss. Ardencote Manor plans a real-snow room, with genuine snow produced by cannons, as part of its cold therapy offering — a rare thing in a British spa. There's also a bespoke 'Rainpool', an enclosed warm-water pool where up to 20 guests at a time can sit beneath simulated rainfall while LED projections conjure tropical storms overhead.
Outside, an expansive Spa Garden will hold four vitality pools alongside saunas and cold experiences, with loungers and poolside drinks for the summer months — the kind of place where you alternate heat and cold in the morning and drift into a slow afternoon by the water. A dedicated magnesium-enriched pool offers a gentler option, while thermal fans get juniper and Himalayan salt saunas, aromatic steam rooms and a purpose-built theatre sauna.
Treatment-wise, there will be 31 treatment rooms plus three touchless wellness rooms. Planned experiences include sound therapy focused on meditation and sleep, salt flotation pools that create a weightless, near zero-gravity feeling, and capsule-style chronotherapy using targeted light. Hiddenwell is positioning the mix as a blend of hands-on treatments and technology-led wellness, so it should appeal equally to massage loyalists and gadget-curious spa-goers.
Then there's the rest of the resort: 68 bedrooms, including the group's signature hot tub suites, plus three restaurants and three bars. That combination makes Ardencote Manor more than a day-trip proposition — it's designed for a proper countryside break where dinner and a night's sleep are part of the treatment plan.
For UK wellness travellers, this is one to watch. The Midlands has quietly become a spa stronghold thanks to Hiddenwell's existing properties, and Ardencote Manor adds a large-scale option within easy reach of Birmingham and a short hop from Stratford-upon-Avon, so you can pair thermal sessions with a bit of Shakespeare country. If real snow, rainfall pools and flotation tanks sound like your kind of recovery, early 2027 is the date to circle.
