A new tier of Galapagos cruising is on the way. Ecuadorian operator Golden Galapagos has unveiled its Signature Luxury Collection, a pair of 16-guest catamarans aimed squarely at travellers who want expedition access without compromising on space or comfort.
The first boat, M/C Grand Ocean Spray, starts sailing in October 2026. It carries eight Golden Suites spread over two decks plus one single cabin — notable if you travel solo and dislike paying hefty supplements. Every room has panoramic ocean-view doors and a private balcony. Up top there's al fresco dining, a whirlpool and a spa positioned for sea views, while solar panels and lithium batteries support the twin-hull vessel's energy needs. Crew staffing is pitched at the high end too, with a dedicated Cruise Hospitality Officer and a senior naturalist guide.
The second vessel, M/C Galapagos Eminence, follows in April 2027 and pushes the space-per-guest idea further. Nine suites all come with private terraces: two Loft suites and two Panorama Suites with 90-degree views feature private jacuzzis, alongside five Golden Suites. The wellness kit is extensive — spa, infrared sauna, gym, an exterior jacuzzi seating eight to ten, and even a lift between decks, still a rarity on small expedition boats.
Both ships keep guest counts at 16, well below many larger Galapagos vessels, which typically means more flexible itineraries and less crowding at landings — a real consideration when park rules limit group sizes at visitor sites. Eminence will run with two naturalist guides on departures of 12 or more guests, and an internal garage for zodiacs and kayaks should speed up daily excursions.
Sustainability features go beyond the usual marketing line. Eminence monitors water flow in each suite, filters and reuses jacuzzi water, and treats black, grey and oily water onboard. Combined with solar-assisted systems on both boats, that addresses some of the environmental pressure associated with growing tourism in the archipelago.
Why it matters: Galapagos cruises sell out months in advance, and the newest, most spacious boats tend to book up fastest. If a small-ship, high-comfort expedition is on your list for late 2026 or 2027, it's worth watching when these sailings open for sale — solo travellers in particular should note the single cabin on Grand Ocean Spray.
