Bogota is turning Halloween into a multi-day event this year, with a programme running from October 30 into early November that spans amusement-park scare zones, stadium concerts, club nights, ghost tours and free activities for kids. If you happen to be in Colombia's capital around October 31, there is far more on offer than a single night of costumes.
For the brave, Salitre Magico's Festival del Terror is back for its 11th edition with haunted houses, scare zones and live shows, while Mundo Aventura adds horror-themed experiences with Terror al Parque. South of the city, BLOC Bosa runs Escape del Terror. Note that age restrictions, hours and ticket availability vary, so check with each venue before you go.
Music is the biggest draw. On October 31, El Campin Stadium hosts Awooween with Colombian urbano star Ryan Castro — general admission has reportedly sold out, though some special-experience tickets may remain. The Jalogüin party series splits across two nights: October 30 at Andres Carne de Res in nearby Chia with reggaeton artist Ñejo, then October 31 at Andres D.C. in Bogota with Alejandro Villalobos. Electronic fans have plenty too: Six Sex plays Lourdes Music Hall on October 30, the Misterio International Halloween Festival runs October 30 to November 3 at El Mozo Club, and Wasteland re: BIRTH lands at Kaputt Club on November 1 — tickets listed at COP 50,000 per day or COP 90,000 for a three-day pass. There's even a nostalgic option: Fiesta Terror de los 90s at BLOC Plaza de las Americas on October 30 and 31.
Not everything is about parties. Nighttime tours through the cobbled streets of La Candelaria, the historic centre, dig into local legends and ghost stories — a good pick if you'd rather get spooky than sweaty. The Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra presents a Halloween-themed concert at Teatro Fabio Lozano, and Avenida Chile shopping mall hosts costume, cosplay, anime, K-pop and gaming events on October 30 and 31.
Families on a budget are covered as well. El Castillo de las Artes runs La Toma Dulce, a free event on October 30 from 3 p.m., and CEFE Chapinero offers free activities plus a screening of the animated film Ponyo. The Botanical Garden is also putting on family-friendly programming — worth confirming times and whether reservations are needed.
Traveller takeaway: Bogota makes a surprisingly strong Halloween stop, whether you want a stadium show, a horror walkthrough or a quiet evening of legends in the old town. Dates cluster tightly around October 30 to November 1, so plan which nights you want before you arrive — the biggest events sell out first.
