Indonesia's capital is getting its first proper cocktail festival. Jakarta Cocktail Week runs 24-28 November and brings roughly 20 guest bars from across Asia — Hong Kong, Shanghai, Osaka, Singapore, Penang, Bangkok, Taipei, Seoul and Ho Chi Minh City — to pour one-night takeovers at the city's best local counters.
The line-up has real weight. Hong Kong's Bar Leone, currently rated the World's Best Bar 2026, will staff the festival's charity "Star Bar" at the Cocktail Village, and the closing night lands at Artesian Bar at The Langham, Jakarta, with Andrew Ho of Guangzhou's Hope & Sesame — number one on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026. The opening night at The Gunawarman features a Bangkok trio drawn from Firefly, Aqua Bar and G.O.D.
Structure is simple and traveller-friendly. Guest shifts run 25-28 November, with each evening clustered around a different part of the city so you can realistically bar-hop between venues. The full schedule is public: Argo and Nautilus take counters on the 25th, Singapore's Pop City and Bangkok's Us Bar among the 26th's six takeovers, Ho Chi Minh City's The Enigma Mansion on the 27th, and Dead Poets and Alice wrapping things up on the 28th. Every night then rolls into an after-party — Jaya Pub on the 25th, Bottom Parlour on the 26th, Duckdown Bar on the 27th.
The centrepiece for casual visitors is the Cocktail Village on Friday 27 November at Sudirman Hall, Sequis Tower in SCBD. Entry is free, with brand booths pouring cocktails from top bars across Indonesia, food stalls from local F&B partners, and music. All profits from the Star Bar — manned by local bartenders alongside Bar Leone — go to charity.
There's an educational layer too: masterclasses from Indra Kantono of Singapore's Jigger & Pony and Jon Lee of Penrose in Kuala Lumpur, plus panel discussions moderated by Ray Janson before the Village festivities. And if you're in town before the festival proper, participating bars are each serving a dedicated "Road to JCW" cocktail until 28 November, while ride-hailing firm Bluebird is offering a promo code for trips between venues during festival week.
Why should a traveller care? Jakarta has long played second fiddle to Singapore and Bangkok on the region's bar circuit, but the city's young population and shift toward experience-led drinking have produced a serious cocktail scene of its own. A festival like this compresses Asia's best bartending into five nights — you could drink Hope & Sesame in Guangzhou and Argo in Hong Kong, or catch them all in one week in SCBD. If you're already eyeing Southeast Asia for late November, it's a legitimate reason to route through Jakarta.
