A brokerage has opened a café — but not the kind you'd expect. Longbridge Café, which swung open its doors on 21 October 2026 at Guoco Tower on Wallich Street, is a community space for retail investors that happens to serve serious specialty pourover coffee. Think investor education sessions, market chats and demos of AI research tools, alongside a properly run coffee bar. No one is going to try to sell you anything at the counter.
The idea behind it is a bet on what physical spaces are still for in an era when everything from research to trading happens on a phone. Longbridge's Singapore CEO Gavin Chia argues that investors today aren't short of information — earnings reports, analyst notes, social media hot takes and AI answers all pile up at once — but they are short of good conversations. The café is meant to fill that gap: a place to attend a talk, argue about markets with friends over a flat white, test drive the company's Longbridge AI tools, or just work for an hour between meetings.
The layout reflects that mix. Instead of splitting the venue into a "financial" zone and a "lifestyle" zone, the different activities — sessions, small group discussions, tech discovery, solo work, informal meetups — are designed to coexist. The team plans a rolling calendar of education programmes, market conversations and partner collaborations, with the stated goal of building a community people return to rather than a one-weekend curiosity.
Practicalities for anyone passing through Singapore's CBD: the café is at 5 Wallich Street, #01-15, Guoco Tower, right by Tanjong Pagar MRT. It's open 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on weekends — handy for a pre-work coffee if you're staying nearby, or an afternoon stop between sightseeing and dinner.
Why should a traveller care? Singapore has a strong café culture and Guoco Tower sits in the middle of it, but this is a genuinely different kind of venue — part workspace, part talk series, part coffee shop — and it's free to walk in. If you're a travelling investor, remote worker or just curious about how AI is changing personal finance, dropping in for a session or a cup of pourover beats staring at your laptop in a hotel lobby. And if nothing else, it's a good story: a café run by a brokerage that holds 22 financial licences across multiple markets, founded in 2019, that decided the future of finance includes good beans and better conversation.
The real test, as Chia himself puts it, is whether people come back — not whether they show up once for the opening. Either way, CBD visitors now have one more interesting room to sit in.
