A wave of food and drink events is rolling across the Maldives' luxury resorts, and if you're planning an island stay between now and the end of 2026, timing your trip around one could add real substance to what might otherwise be a week of pool-and-sunscreen bliss.

Milaidhoo, in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, has the most playful offering. For International Men's Day this November — which also marks the resort's tenth anniversary — it's running Gentlemen & Cocktails at Compass Pool Bar. Male guests get a crash course from the bar team, then face a timed challenge: a black box of secret ingredients that must feature in their drink, plus one extra herb, vegetable or aromatic plucked from the resort's Chef's Garden. Partners judge on flavour, presentation and originality, and the winning serve becomes the Cocktail of the Day for a week — with unlimited servings for the winning couple for the rest of their stay. Bragging rights included.

Guests staying later in the year have plenty to plan around too. Milaidhoo hosts Chef JKP (James Knight-Paccheco), a 20-year industry veteran who has cooked alongside Raymond Blanc, Gordon Ramsay and Michael Caines, on 11 and 12 December 2026 — first a hands-on cooking workshop, then a wine-pairing dinner matched by the resort's sommelier.

Also in December 2026, the Atmosphere portfolio brings Stellenbosch to the sand. Glenelly Estate, founded by 101-year-old May-Éliane de Lencquesaing, takes over RAAYA by Atmosphere from 4–6 December and VARU by Atmosphere from 8–10 December, with six events spanning garden-to-glass gatherings, sunset sessions and multi-course pairings. If you're booked on the RAAYA Plan or VARU Plan, the experiences are complimentary with a reservation — a genuine perk given how resort drinks bills can climb.

Meanwhile JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll has a three-night takeover with RED Bar of New Delhi, named among India's 30 Best Bars in 2025. From 25–27 November 2026, mixologist Virender Singh moves around the island: signature cocktails at the overwater Nikkei Bar, a garden-to-glass evening at JW Garden, then a beachfront finale at Wahoo Bar.

Who's this for? Anyone who likes their luxury with a bit of interaction — these aren't passive dinners but chances to shake a cocktail, cook beside a chef or quiz a winemaker with your toes in the sand. Note that the headline events fall in late 2026, so they suit travellers booking ahead rather than last-minute escapees. If your dates don't align, the Maldives' resort scene adds guest chefs, wine weeks and bar takeovers nearly every month, so it's worth asking your hotel what's on before you lock in travel dates.
