If the January grey is getting to you, a Caribbean cruise is one of the easiest ways to chase proper sunshine without committing to a single resort. A round-up of sailings for 2026 and 2027 shows there's something for nearly every budget and travelling style — from a three-night taster to a 75-night odyssey.
The bargain option is MSC Cruises' four-night Bahamas loop from Port Canaveral, departing 6 December 2026 from £239pp. MSC Seashore calls at Nassau and the line's private Ocean Cay marine reserve, which has over two miles of white-sand beach plus scuba diving, paddleboarding and beachside stargazing.
For a proper week in the islands, Norwegian Cruise Line's seven-day sailing from Miami on 31 October 2026 (from £460pp) takes in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St Thomas, Tortola and NCL's private island Great Stirrup Cay, which just opened a new waterpark. You'll be aboard the new Norwegian Luna, home to the Slidecoaster — billed as the world's first hybrid rollercoaster-water slide — and a 360-degree outdoor promenade.
Adults-only travellers have two strong picks. Virgin Voyages runs a seven-night Eastern Caribbean trip on Resilient Lady from Miami on 30 January 2027 (from £1,349 per cabin), with stops in San Juan, Philipsburg and the line's beach club at Bimini — expect tattoo parlours at sea and a day of beach-partying rather than bingo. Alternatively, Celebrity's seven-night Bahamas, Mexico and Cayman itinerary on its newest ship Xcel departs Miami on 3 January 2027 from £692pp, mixing snorkelling, Mayan ruins at Costa Maya and Cozumel seafood with onboard extras like a secret speakeasy and adult-only games room.
Families and theme-park fans are well served too. Royal Caribbean debuts Legend of the Seas in the region with a three-night Miami–CocoCay sailing on 11 November 2026 (from £1,364pp) — the new Icon-class ship packs six waterslides, 20-plus bars and a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical. Disney Cruise Line's Very Merrytime sailing on the new Disney Destiny departs Fort Lauderdale on 12 December 2026 (from £2,996 per cabin), with Christmas decorations, character carolling, its private Lookout Cay island and Marvel-themed dinners.
And if you'd rather skip the airport entirely, P&O's adult-only Aurora leaves Southampton on 3 January 2027 for a 75-night America & Caribbean Discovery voyage (from £6,499pp), taking in around 35 ports from Madeira and St Maarten to Curaçao, a Panama Canal transit, New Orleans and Miami before returning in mid-March.
Worth noting: cruise lines operate in the Caribbean year-round, but October to February is prime window for winter sun, and deals and discounts are often available if you book ahead. The sweet spot for most travellers is one of the fly-cruise week-long itineraries — enough islands to feel like a proper adventure, without giving up your entire winter.
