Luxury tour operator Abercrombie & Kent has mapped out its picks for 2027, and the list spans film sets, anniversaries and some genuinely far-flung corners of the map. Here's what made the cut.
Easter Island gets a Hollywood moment thanks to Wild Horse Nine, Martin McDonagh's comedic thriller filmed on Rapa Nui and starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. After its Venice premiere and a Best Actor win for Malkovich, the island expects fresh attention. A&K has teamed with Searchlight Pictures on a Tailormade itinerary that starts in Santiago before flying out to the moai.
Anniversaries shape the rest of the list. Jaipur marks 300 years since its founding in 1727 — and a new highway now cuts the Delhi drive from about seven hours to three. Alaska's Denali Highway celebrates 70 years as the first road into Denali National Park; the 135-mile route still counts as one of the state's quietest wilderness drives, with solid odds of spotting caribou, moose and Dall sheep.
Two icons are being rediscovered. China bookings are surging, with Hong Kong's 30th handover anniversary and new air links drawing travellers back. Egypt is riding the wave from the Grand Egyptian Museum opening, plus Mandarin Oriental's restorations of the Old Cataract in Aswan and the Winter Palace in Luxor. A&K's answer is Nile Seray, an all-suite riverboat launching in November 2026 with just 32 suites, after-hours Valley of the Kings access and Egyptologist-led touring. Tanzania rounds out the classics: A&K is pushing beyond the Serengeti to Tarangire's baobabs and elephant herds, paired with a repositioned Ngorongoro Crater Camp offering early access to the crater.
The 'new frontier' picks are arguably the most interesting. Australia's Hunter Valley, the country's oldest wine region, finally gets a flagship luxury property — Laval, a $130 million resort and the area's first major new-build in two decades — arriving in a year that also brings the Rugby World Cup and Qantas's first non-stop Sydney-London flight. Georgia, meanwhile, is drawing record tourism thanks to better flights, an 8,000-year winemaking tradition and Caucasus scenery, with a new A&K journey pairing it with Armenia.
At nature's edge, Bolivia's Salar de Uyuni will get Samkani Camp in late 2027 — five architect-designed Airstream suites set directly on the world's largest salt flat, a rarity in a region where overnighting on the salar is unusual. Argentine Patagonia sees a wave of late-2026 openings led by Explora El Calafate, plus glamping at Moreno Camp and the ten-dome Estancia Cerro Castillo. And Atlantic Canada's coast gets a nod for its Mi'kmaw, Acadian and maritime heritage.
If you like your travel with expert guiding and a side of exclusivity, this list is essentially a preview of where high-end itineraries — and crowds — are heading next year. The practical takeaway for independent travellers: book the salt flats and the Nile early, and consider the Hunter Valley and Georgia before everyone else catches on.
