Dubai's fast-growing Burj2Burj half-marathon is back for another edition in January 2027, and this time the course has been reshuffled. The 21.1km race now starts at Coca-Cola Arena, threads past a line-up of the city's most recognisable landmarks, then heads for the coast along Jumeirah Beach Road before finishing with the Burj Al Arab in view. Along the way runners pass the Burj Khalifa and the Museum of the Future, which makes this one of the more photogenic city routes you'll find anywhere.
The race has grown quickly since launching. Around 4,000 runners took part in its first year in 2024; by 2026 that figure had climbed to 16,000. Organisers are expecting demand again, and with a capacity cap on entries, signing up early is the sensible move.
Race day isn't the whole story. The event runs as a weekend-long affair, kicking off with a three-day Burj2Burj Expo at Coca-Cola Arena from January 21. Spectators and participants can hear Clubhouse talks from coaches and experts, meet elite athletes, browse retail stands and check out brand activations. There's also a Mini Marathon for kids aged three to 12 on the opening day — parents can run alongside, and every child finisher gets a medal.
New to running? A dedicated beginner programme pairs first-timers with Burj2Burj ambassadors from the UAE and further afield, so you don't have to train solo.
Entry pricing works on a sliding scale: Late Sale entries cost Dhs310 if you book before November 2, 2026, rising to Dhs350 during a last-minute sale that runs from November 2 to January 3, 2027. Every entry includes a t-shirt, race bib, timing chip, on-route hydration and support, plus a finisher medal. Registration is via burj2burj.com.
Why it matters for travellers: January is peak season for Dubai — warm days, cool mornings, and a calendar stacked with outdoor events. The half-marathon distance suits runners of most levels, and the new route effectively doubles as a sightseeing tour of the city's headline attractions. Even if you're not racing, the expo and kids' run make it a fun spectator weekend, and pairing the trip with beach time on Jumeirah or a few days exploring Downtown Dubai is an easy sell. Just remember to book both your flights and your race spot early — January is when everyone wants to be in Dubai.
