Cat cafes are old news in Johor Bahru. The latest animal cafe opening has gone feathered: DUDU Duck Cafe, inside Tasek Central Mall about 20 minutes' drive from the JB checkpoint, lets you hang out with a small flock of white Call ducks — a breed prized for their petite, round, extra-fluffy look.

The cafe opened on 21 July 2026 and is currently home to eight named ducks. The originals are Dudu, Butter, Mochi and Boba, with Sesame, Lala, Lulu and Cheesy arriving in August 2026. A dedicated petting area is where the magic happens: you can pat the ducks gently and take plenty of photos, though admission applies.

Entry costs RM15 for adults and RM10 for children on weekdays, rising to RM20 and RM15 on weekends and public holidays — roughly S$4.70–S$6.20 for adults at recent exchange rates. For that price you get duck time plus a genuinely loaded cafe menu.

The food runs Western and Japanese-inspired. Heartier plates include Japanese Chicken Katsu Curry Rice (RM24), Mentaiko Fried Chicken Donburi (RM26) and Mushroom Carbonara Pasta (RM24). Snackers can pick from Mentaiko Fries, Korean Fried Chicken and Japanese Chicken Gyoza, all around RM20–RM26. There's a pastry counter too, with a Hazelnut Lava Croissant, a Salted Egg Lava Croissant and a Smoked Salmon Cream Bagel. Signature drinks include the DUDU Strawberry Matcha, DUDU Mango Yakult and DUDU Chocolate Frappe.

The photogenic star is the DUDU Mango Pudding — a wobbly, duck-shaped dessert at RM18 that's almost too cute to eat. The kitchen also leans into seasonal fun: duck-themed mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival and Halloween fizzy drinks topped with cotton candy, skulls and tiny pumpkins.

If you want a souvenir, the cafe sells a green DUDU Duck baseball cap and plushie versions of the resident ducks, which makes sense given how hard it is to leave a room full of fluffy birds without buying something.

Why go? If your usual JB day trip is mall-and-cafe hopping, this adds something you won't find in Singapore — affordable animal interaction, a proper meal and dessert all in one stop, and a short ride from the Causeway. It's an easy win for families with kids, couples looking for a quirky date spot, or anyone whose camera roll needs more ducks.
