Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana has opened on the beachfront at Cabeza de Toro, the first property in the Dominican Republic for Hyatt's adults-only Vivid brand — a 467-room resort built around a looser, more social take on the all-inclusive formula rather than a rigid schedule of activities.
The rooms lean on natural textures and warm neutrals, with balconies or terraces facing the ocean, gardens or grounds. The step-up tier is the Vantage Club collection: 69 suites, some with direct swim-out access from the terrace or panoramic views, plus a private lounge and personalised service. Across the resort there are five pools, so you're rarely fighting for a lounger.
Food and drink run to nine dining spots — five à la carte restaurants, an international food hall, a beach club and a wellness café — along with seven bars including a swim-up bar and a speakeasy you have to earn your way into: the Paint Your Way In art workshop ends with entry to the hidden bar. Two things worth noting for anyone who hates fine-print resort rules: no reservations are needed at the restaurants, and the dress code stays casual throughout.
Wellness gets more attention than at a typical all-inclusive. Zenda Spa builds treatments around Dominican cacao and tropical fruits, and there's a padel court, pickleball courts, indoor and outdoor gyms and a rolling programme of yoga, mindfulness and recovery sessions. Standout experiences include Wave Hello to Wellness — paddleboard yoga plus nutrition sessions on the Caribbean Sea — and Wellness Brew Sessions, which pair Dominican coffee and healthy bites with live DJs. Local culture is woven in too, with murals, live music, beach bonfires and stargancing nights on the calendar.
Pricing is competitive for a new-build resort: around $396 per night all-inclusive for Hyatt members, $432 for everyone else, and roughly $515 for a swim-out suite.
Why it matters: Hyatt now has 30 resorts and over 16,000 rooms in the Dominican Republic alone, and more is coming — Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana is in the pipeline, with Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana slated for 2029. For travellers, Vivid is a good fit if you want the ease of all-inclusive but balk at the colour-coded wristband, strict dress code version of it. Adults-only, walk-in dining and a choice between a party-adjacent pool scene and quiet paddleboard yoga means you can set your own pace. Book early if a swim-out suite is the goal — those 69 Vantage Club suites are the scarcest stock in a 467-room resort.
