Club lounges are rare in the IHG universe — most Holiday Inns and even many Crowne Plazas don't have one. But for guests who hit serious stay counts, IHG One Rewards offers an annual lounge membership as a Milestone Reward, and it covers lounge access for you plus a guest at any IHG property with a club lounge, on unlimited stays until it expires.

How do you get one? You have to earn it. The membership can only be selected at two milestone tiers: 40 nights or 70 nights in a calendar year. At 40 nights you pick two rewards from 10,000 bonus points, five $20 food-and-beverage rewards, one confirmable suite upgrade, or the lounge membership; the 70-night tier works similarly but with two suite upgrades available. Act fast once you qualify — you get 90 days to choose, or the reward is forfeited.

Timing works in your favour. Select the membership and it stays valid through 31 December of the following year, so reaching 40 nights mid-year effectively buys you up to 18 months of lounge access. There's no cap on how many times you can use it, including on award and free nights.

Redemption is simple. Find the membership in your account's Rewards Wallet, tap redeem, and show the screen at check-in — staff will load lounge access onto your room key. One catch: you must be the primary member on the reservation for the hotel to verify the pass, so it won't help if a travelling companion booked the room.

What do you actually get inside? Typically complimentary breakfast, soft drinks all day, and often evening drinks with hors d'oeuvres — the writer behind the original piece reports evening alcohol has been included at every lounge they've visited since 2023. Be aware of the fine print: an upgrade to a club-level room does not automatically grant lounge access, the pass excludes Club InterContinental services beyond the lounge itself, and InterContinental Alliance resorts in Macao are off-limits. At participating Iberostar beachfront resorts it unlocks Star Prestige facilities, though not Star Prestige rooms.

Is it worth 40 nights of your year? That depends entirely on your travel pattern. There's no easy search filter for which IHG hotels have lounges, so you'll be checking individual property pages — look for room names mentioning lounge access. Lounges do pop up beyond InterContinental: some Crowne Plazas and even Holiday Inns have them (the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium is a cited example). If your usual destinations rarely have lounges, alternatives may be more valuable: TPG's valuations peg 10,000 bonus points at roughly $60 and five food-and-beverage rewards around $100.

The sweet spot is the frequent business traveller or points enthusiast who deliberately books IHG properties with lounges — think the InterContinental Cartagena de Indias or that Singapore Atrium — several times a year. For everyone else, points or dining credits will likely deliver more practical value.
