Short on plans between October 26 and 29? Dubai's calendar is stacked with new openings, one-night dining collaborations and a fresh way to scare yourself silly 52 floors above Palm Jumeirah.

The big news for sightseers: The View at The Palm has launched The Ledge, a set of eight glass platforms jutting out from the 52nd floor of The Palm Tower. Four look over the Palm's fronds, four face the Dubai skyline, and all of them let you stare straight down through the glass if you're brave enough. Tickets start at Dhs115 via theviewpalm.ae.

Food deals are doing the heavy lifting this week. Miss Lily's at the Sheraton Grand on Sheikh Zayed Road runs a Tuesday steak-and-frites night: Dhs120 gets you a 200g Australian striploin, salad and unlimited fries, with a half jerk chicken version for Dhs90 and a bottle of house wine for Dhs100. Over in DIFC, Gymkhana has rolled out a weekday business lunch at Dhs145 for four courses — think pappadums with club chutneys, aloo chaat or king crab ghee roast to start, then Goan prawn curry or kid goat methi keema. The tandoori masala lamb chop is a Dhs125 add-on.

If you'd rather make an evening of it, two standout options. On Tuesday October 27, Chez Wam at The St Regis Gardens hosts Coolab Vol. 8 with the newly opened Aatish — a Dhs350 live-fire menu featuring sizzling prawns with smoked garlic butter, flame-grilled lamb chops and a T-Rex bone marrow cheeseburger with masala fries. And Mekong at Anantara The Palm has launched a new Thai-rooted menu (with Chinese and Southeast Asian detours), including salmon tartare Laab Pla and a Burmese-style beef cheek Kao Soi, with the Rooted in Thailand dinner priced at Dhs495 and daily DJ sets from 8.30pm.

Prefer doing to dining? Two creative picks. On October 28, We Love Art hosts a Paint and Grape session at Montgomery Golf Academy in Emirates Hills — Dhs390 buys you a pre-sketched canvas, guidance, canapés and two drinks, from 7pm to 10pm. Or book the sunset wellbeing evening at Terra in Expo City Dubai on October 30: yoga, breathwork, painting and a gong sound bath, finishing with dinner under the stars. It's Dhs270 solo or Dhs450 for two. For something lazier, The 305 at Palm West Beach brings Miami flavour daily from 9am to midnight — pool, daybeds and a private beach for Dhs200 on weekdays.

Whether you're a resident filling evenings or a visitor in town this week, the common thread is that Dubai's best experiences right now are bookable by the night — and several cost less than a fancy dinner elsewhere.
