A single Maldivian resort walked away with nine honours at the 2026 World Luxury Awards, and two of them were global titles. Grand Park Kodhipparu, a 20-minute speedboat ride from Malé, was named Global Winner for Best Luxury Island Resort Spa and picked up a second global gong for its fine-dining restaurant FireDOOR, awarded Best Sunset Views.

The spa recognition covers the resort's overwater treatment pavilions, which sit directly above the Indian Ocean lagoon. FireDOOR, meanwhile, owes its award to a setting that is hard to replicate: glass floor panels over the house reef and panoramic views west across the water, timed perfectly for the daily sunset. Both venues also took Indian Ocean-level titles — the spa for Best Luxury Boutique Spa and Best Luxury Oceanview Spa, and FireDOOR for Best Luxury Boutique Resort Restaurant and Best Luxury Waterside Restaurant.

Rounding out the haul, the resort was named Best Luxury Boutique Resort and Best Luxury Lifestyle Resort in the Indian Ocean, and General Manager Raffaele Solferino received the Best General Manager award. Solferino has led the property since before it opened in 2017, and the timing matters: the resort hits its tenth anniversary in 2027, and these awards land right in the build-up.

The resort's own framing — "Connected Island Luxury" — leans on personalised service, wellness, dining and easy access to nature rather than sheer scale. That positioning fits a boutique-style property of villas over and beside the lagoon, and it is clearly resonating with award juries this year.

For travellers weighing up Maldives options, the awards are a useful shortcut. If a world-class spa is the point of the trip, Kodhipparu's overwater spa now has two global and two regional titles backing it up. If dinner with a view is non-negotiable, FireDOOR's glass-floor sunset dining is formally the best in class for 2026. And for families or couples who want resort polish without a long seaplane transfer, the short speedboat hop from the capital makes it one of the easier premium islands to reach.

The wider Maldivian scene had a strong awards season too. Wellness by Mandara at Barceló Nasandhura in Malé made a global top-100 spa list — notable because it serves the capital itself, not just resort guests. Marine operator Jalboot Group and its Koamas brand took three World Luxury Travel Awards for diving, water transfers and watersports. And Soneva Fushi, in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, won Excellence in Sustainable Childcare for The Den, its kids' club, where children plant trees, make recycled paper and tour the resort's waste-to-product Eco Centro. It was the only Maldivian winner among the five Luxury Childcare Association categories for 2026.

Taken together, it signals a resort scene competing not just on looks but on spas, food, marine experiences and family programming — good news for anyone planning a 2027 trip, especially with tenth-anniversary celebrations likely to bring offers at Kodhipparu.
