Minor Hotels has its first Asian property under its young luxury brand, Minor Reserve Collection, and it's headed for Bang Tao in northern Phuket. The Bangkok-based group has signed a management agreement with Amal Group of Companies to run Gardens of Eden Resort Phuket, Minor Reserve Collection, a 310-key property due to open in 2031.
The resort is the hospitality core of a bigger project: Gardens of Eden, a 33-acre integrated living and wellness development that will also include Etro Residences and Gardens of Eden Residences. Rather than a straightforward hotel, the scheme splits its 310 keys into a 100-room hotel plus 210 one-, two- and three-bedroom residences that sit within the resort's operating inventory — a hotel-branded residence model that has become the go-to formula for high-end Phuket developments.
Wellness is the pitch. Guests get a dedicated facility of more than 5,000 square metres, plus an all-day dining restaurant, two speciality restaurants, an organic café and a lobby lounge. Tierra Design founder Martin Palleros is on design duty, with plans to work the natural Bang Tao setting into the property's character.
Executives from both sides framed the deal around Phuket's momentum as a resort and wellness hub, with Minor's Chief Development & Luxury Officer Omar Romero calling Thailand "home" for the group and noting the kingdom's significance to its luxury strategy. For Minor, it's a meaningful proof point: the Reserve collection now has a flagship in the region where the company was founded.
The catch for travellers? Patience. With doors opening in 2031, this one is firmly in the pipeline rather than the plan-a-trip file. Still, it's worth tracking if you're eyeing Phuket long-term — whether as a wellness-focused holiday or a purchase in the adjacent branded residences — and it signals where one of Asia's biggest hotel groups thinks luxury demand is heading: large, wellness-led, villa-style resorts on the island's quieter northwest coast.
